At D4 Decor, most people recognise us for the quality of our work on site: early mornings, long days, and a sharp eye for detail that ensures every finish is something to be proud of. What often goes unnoticed is the mindset behind our team, the drive, resilience, and support that fuel our success. Recently, our two directors, Craig and Davie, took on the Glasgow HYROX, a demanding fitness competition that combines running with tough functional fitness challenges. This experience revealed how the same spirit that pushes us through physical challenges also powers our work on every project.

What Makes HYROX So Challenging
HYROX is not your average race. It mixes running with exercises like sled pushes, lunges, rowing, and burpees. Each segment tests your strength, endurance, and mental toughness. The race demands more than just fitness; it requires discipline and the ability to keep moving even when your body screams to stop.
For our team, HYROX was never just about physical fitness. It was about setting a goal beyond the worksite, pushing ourselves to new limits, and backing each other through every tough moment. The competition mirrors the challenges we face in our trade: long hours, demanding tasks, and the need to stay focused and consistent.
How HYROX Reflects Our Work Ethic
The parallels between HYROX and our daily work at D4 Decor are clear:
Discipline: Just like training for HYROX requires regular effort, our projects demand consistent attention and care from start to finish.
Resilience: When the race gets tough, quitting is not an option. Similarly, unexpected challenges on-site require us to adapt and keep going.
Team Support: Even though HYROX is an individual race, the encouragement from teammates makes a huge difference. On-site, collaboration and trust help us deliver the best results.
This mindset is what drives us to improve every day, whether it’s shaving seconds off a race time or perfecting a paint finish.
Celebrating Personal Bests and Team Wins
One of the proudest moments at HYROX was when we set a new personal best, cutting our previous time by 1 minute and 30 seconds. That achievement was no accident. It came from months of early morning training, steady progress, and a refusal to settle for less.
The whole team was there to cheer us on, showing how individual success is always supported by collective effort. This spirit of encouragement and shared pride is something we carry back to every project at D4 Decor.
Building More Than Just Work Relationships
Working together on site, travelling to different locations, and tackling complex projects across Scotland has built more than just professional connections. It has created trust and camaraderie that go beyond the job.
Events like HYROX strengthen these bonds. Facing physical challenges together reminds us that we are part of a team that supports each other, no matter what. This trust makes our work smoother and more enjoyable, knowing that everyone has each other's backs.
Bringing the HYROX Mindset Into Every Project
The determination and teamwork that get us through a HYROX race are the same qualities we bring to our decorating projects. We show up ready to work hard, support each other, and aim to improve on every job.
This mindset helps us deliver quality finishes and meet deadlines, even when the work is tough or the hours are long. It’s about more than just skill, it’s about attitude and commitment.
